Glamping, as defined by the Oxford English dictionary is "a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping: the word glamping comes from blending glamourous and camping".
Our yurts are located in a beautiful courtyard which is surrounded by the breath-taking and peaceful grounds of Brooklodge. Miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life you can enjoy a relaxing and peaceful time while staying in one of our yurts, bell tents or cabins. It has to be seen to be truly appreciated.
A Yurt is a portable, felt-covered, wood lattice-framed dwelling structure traditionally used by Turkic and Mongolian nomads in the steppes of Central Asia.
A yurt is more home-like than a tent in shape and build, with thicker walls. Traditional yurts consist of a circular wooden frame carrying a felt cover.
The frame consists of one or more lattice wall-sections, a door-frame, roof poles and a crown. Some styles of yurt have one or more columns to support the crown. The (self-supporting) wood frame is covered with pieces of felt. Depending on availability, the felt is additionally covered with canvas and/or sun-covers. The Interior is luxuriously finished to the highest quality to sleep 4 comfortably.
A Bell Tent is a simple structure, supported by a single central pole, covered with a cotton canvas. The stability of the tent is reinforced with tension by guy ropes connected around the top of the walls and is held down by pegs around the circumference to the ground. It has a circular floor plan of 5m (16ft) in diameter.
The multiple sizes of bell tents can be suited to their use or preference and most have a spacious interior, with room to sleep a number of people.
Our beautiful cabins are located adjacent to the courtyard. Each cabin contains 2 single beds or 1 double bed depending on requirements, 2 windows and a porch area. Each cabin has comfortable beds with cosy fresh bed linen.
Fall asleep to the sound of the Abbert River flowing by while you cosy up inside our comfortable cabins. Then wake up in the morning and step outside to nature at your door step with the most beautiful and picturesque view of the Abbert River and surrounding grounds of Whispering Willow.
Our cabins are a perfect choice to relax and unwind while sitting out on the porch of your cabin during those long summer evenings as the sun sets over Brooklodge - a great way to let go of all your worries.
For those of you who would like to experience the beautiful outdoors of Whispering Willow but do not wish to experience the camping lifestyle then our dormitory style accommodation is the perfect choice for you. Our cosy dormitory accommodation can sleep up to 10 people and is a perfect location for a hen party or group night out with a difference.
